Al Gore’s "An Inconvenient Truth" premiered today at 9pm on HBO in celebration of Earth Day. I first saw it last 2007 Earth Day with my sister as it screened at the SM Megamall for free (SM malls did an encore today …Thanks Mr. Henry Sy !).
It’s a good thing I saw it again on the HBO premiere as I got to also watch "The Inconvenient Truth: Al Gore’s Update" which I presume was just added on the DVD extras.
While some argue (the debates are ongoing) that this movie was more political than technical and that Global Warming is a non-issue, personally I would rather be on the Earth-friendly conservationist side.
We only have a finite amount of resources on this planet and we must carefully and efficiently use them so that there would still be legacy left for the generations to come.
Let’s not wait for that point in time where we can mutter to ourselves: "uhhmm… well… Al Gore and them tree-huggers were right after all…" Because when that time comes, it might be a little too late.
Let’s all do our own bit to help save the environment.
Save Mother Earth… She’s the only one we’ve got !
For those who want to catch it on HBO Asia, repeats for this month are scheduled on the 23rd at 1 pm.; the 25th at 11 pm; the 26th at 7 pm; and the 27th at 5 pm.
Happy Earth Day !!!

I just got via snail mail my (Associate Travel Agent) ATA badge after submitting my credentials (Photo & Info) online last February 14 (no date ;). So processing time from the California office is 20 days or 3 weeks on average.
Funny thing is I’ve been an associate of GT since December 15 and have been assisting new ATAs to scan and upload their pics but haven’t done mine ’til Feb 14.
Anyway, it’s done… my badge is here… and I’m officially an International Associate Travel Agent (ATA) of GT Trends, Inc / Global Travel Trends.
This shall be my very first post for 2008 so I will dedicate this for some sort of a mission/vision statement for the current project that I’m focusing lately. Here goes…
Our VISION
To be a respected organization of social
entrepreneurs capitalizing on and harnessing the power of the internet
to enable Filipinos to tap into global opportunities and earn dollars
at home without the need to be separated from their families and
thereby achieve life and work balance.
Our MISSION
To be
an advocate of social entrepreneurship and help improve the society
around us through disseminating information about the unique opportunities
that abound in this new internet savvy economy and thereby help
Filipino households be more economically productive with their time and
other resources.
Good Luck, Good Health, and God Bless to ALL !!!
under construction… my thoughts, that is…

I just pulled this from a joke thread in one of the forums I frequent. I believe this may have gone the internet rounds but it still makes up for an interesting read. Enjoy!
Mathematics of Earnings
The Equation
Engineers and scientists will never make as much money as business executives. Now a rigorous mathematical proof has been developed that explains why this is true.
Postulate 1: Knowledge is Power.
Postulate 2: Time is Money.
As every engineer knows,
Work = Power * Time
Since Knowledge = Power, and Time = Money, we have:
Work = Knowledge * Money
Solving for Money, we get:
Money = Work
/ Knowledge
Therefore, as Knowledge decreases, Money increases, regardless of how much Work is done.
Conclusion: The Less you Know, the More you Make.
Note: It has been speculated that the reason why Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard’s math program was because he stumbled upon this proof as an undergraduate, and dedicated the rest of his career to the pursuit of ignorance.
======================================================================
Additional Concepts… Expounding on the formulas
Money = Work / Knowledge and Time = Work / Knowledge
one will realize that increasing one’s Knowledge but letting their efforts or Work remain the same, then one’s Money and/or Time
decreases. In other words, too much studying without doing will not
only get you nowhere, but will make you end up with lesser time and
money to do what’s really important.
Also, too much Knowledge is also bad for both Time and Money,
because it has the tendency to make you doubtful of everything to do
anything. You might call it ‘analysis paralysis’. The
less you know, the more you make.
Update 10/22 "The death toll has risen to 10 while authorities pegged the number of injured people to 120."
Update 10/22 I’ve changed the title from Bombing to (generic) Explosion as investigations are still underway and investigators recently cast doubts on earlier statements that the blast was indeed caused by a bomb."
I first heard about the explosion from two SMS alerts I received, the second of which says that police reported the explosion to be accidental. Then news reports started appearing on TV with ABS-CBN’s DZMM Teleradyo showing aerial video of the Glorietta compound. Initial onsite police reports traced the explosion to an LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) tank although as per other people’s assessment, the blast which reached upto the 3rd level could have been caused by a bomb.
ABSCBN/CNN terrorism expert Maria Ressa even noted that the blast radius of the explosion is huge compared to
previous attacks like the Jemaah Islamiyah attack on December 30, 2000
(Rizal Day) on the LRT or even the SuperFerry 14 bombing.
The explosion created a thick cloud of dust near Glorietta 2 forcing
the closure of the Glorietta and Park Square 2 malls and Landmark
supermarket.
Early eyewitness accounts to GMANews.TV that it sounded like a powerful
firecracker blast and then a thudding sound was heard like that of a
ceiling that had collapsed.
The explosion was heard near the Glorietta 2 mall from across the
Landmark shopping center near Ayala Avenue in the financial district of
Makati City.
To view the extent of the damage see photos/videos from the ABS-CBN, DisneyCute, DonaldBercasio
Of course a lot of assumptions and conspiracy theories which came out as to who were behind such heinous acts. Whatever they are they will of course be influenced by each
one’s POV.
Senator Trillanes (who ran and won for senate while in jail) has remarked that the incident has the handiwork of Malacanang all over it and is similar to Oplan Greenbase which their Magdalo group has exposed during the 2003 Oakwood mutiny.
The opposition (including some bishops) said that the administration is behind this to divert attention from the many controversies (ZTE, bribery issues, etc) currently haunting the palace as well as the myriad calls for resignation. Ex-Senator Maceda felt the explosion to be similar to the prelude to the 1972 Martial Law.
Here’s one funny tidbit… 9/11-related
10/19: 1+1+9 = the mystery terror number 11
Wow, how’s that for a conspi theory? 9/11 related… maybe the perpetrators left the bomb at 1:19pm then exploded 1:30pm… or maybe the bomb timer is late by 11 minutes… darn, that number again?
Well whatever the investigations will uncover as to whodunnit, people should try to remain calm and stop finger-pointing which is actually counter-productive. Just let the experts do their thing. I heard on the news that there were Fil-Am FBI agents observing the investigations underway at ground zero and that they were also part of the 9/11 investigation team. O well… all help is welcome… they could’ve even brought over CSI Miami and New York. ;) Or better yet, bring Hiro and turn back time? Who know, maybe Sylar or Peter Petrelli could be responsible for the blast… hehe… just making things light here…
On serious note, let’s all offer a moment of peace and prayer sa mga nasawi at nasaktan…

Update 10/21 As it turned out bomb experts at ground zero found traces of RDX (Research Department Explosive or Royal
Demolition explosive), also known called
cyclotrimethylene-trinitramine, which is a main chemical component of C4, a
plastic bomb being used in the Philippines exclusively(?) by the military.
Saw a text flash earlier at DZMM Teleradyo regarding
Rajah Solaiman Revolutionary Movement (RSRM) owning up to the
bombing…
In a text message to ABS-CBN News, the person who said he was
RSM spokesman Ruben Omar Lavilla, alias Sheik Omar, demanded the
release of founder Hilarion del Rosario Santos, alias Ahmed Santos.RSM is a terror organization whose members are allegedly composed of
Christians who have converted to Islam and reportedly operates in
Manila and northern Luzon. It was suspected of carrying out the Rizal
bombing in 2000 and Valentine’s Day bombings in 2004. Read more…
…although authorities doubt authenticity of ‘RSM spokesman’ . Sheik Omar was
reported to have texted ABS-CBN 7:00am Sat then later also made a call
to ABS-CBN. A highly placed intelligence official who listened to a
record of the call said however that the recorded voice of "Sheik Omar"
did not match what they have on file.

Heard on the news last night about the supposed "racial slur" against the Philippine medical schools by an episode in Desperate Housewives wherein the character played by Teri Hatcher said : "before we go any further, can I check
those diplomas because I just wanna make sure that they’re not from
some med school in the Philippines.”
What were the show’s writer(s) thinking? Were they Desperate for some laughs? If you want to read more about it and watch the video clip, you can head on to Sassy Lawyer’s Blog.
As for me, I don’t really care much about it since I don’t watch the show.
But here’s one thing that might interest you though…
Eva Longoria admits starring in ’sex tape’
Update: 2007/10/05
As usual, local politicians are ever available (for media mileage?) to join the bandwagon over the controversial ‘racial’ episode.
A section of lawmakers in the House were even considering getting the show banned.
Sen. Miriam: "… stop watching (boycott)the show!" (so that if the show’s ratings fall, it will naturally be taken off the air.) As if Pinoy viewership is enough to bring down it’s ratings…
Cong. Abante: "Not even 15 to 20 percent of their high school grads go to college. And I’ve hear na mas marami pang diploma mill na mabibili lang for $50…" Parang University of Recto in the united states…hehe…
Cong. Roilo Golez: "…20% of Americans cannot find the United States on the World map and that’s how ignorant they are…"
One funny quip from erstwhile actor who’s now a congressman:
Cong. Dan Fernandez: "… yeah I believe that Teri Thatcher must also issue an apology…"
Ginawa pang kamag-anak ni Margaret Thatcher si Teri… hehe…
Even Cong. Abante made the same (Thatcher) mistake.
Now, now…
ABC execs already issued an official apology with the racial remark to be deleted in future digital media (DVDs, etc) … so… our bandwagon-riding politicians should hold on to their horses with their comments and offer apologies for branding Americans as ignorant as well as for calling Teri as Ms. Thatcher.
